Ingredients:
400 grams canned black beans, drained and rinsed
100 grams mixed vegetables (bell peppers, onions, carrots, etc.), finely chopped
50 grams whole grain breadcrumbs or cooked brown rice
1 large egg
5 grams cumin powder
5 grams paprika
2.5 grams garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
10 milliliters olive oil (for cooking)
Whole grain or whole wheat buns
Fresh herbs and spices for extra flavor
Optional: cheese
Optional: Fresh side salad or vegetable sticks
Instructions:
Prepare the Black Beans: Drain and rinse the black beans thoroughly if using canned beans. If using cooked beans, make sure they are well-drained.
Mash the Beans: In a mixing bowl, mash the black beans using a fork or potato masher until they are mostly mashed but still have some texture.
Add Vegetables: Add the finely chopped mixed vegetables to the mashed beans. This can include bell peppers, onions, carrots, or any other veggies you prefer.
Seasonings: Sprinkle in the cumin powder, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
Add Binding Agents: Incorporate the whole grain breadcrumbs or cooked brown rice into the mixture. This helps bind the ingredients together.
Add Egg: Crack the egg into the mixture. Mix well until the mixture holds together when pressed but is not too wet.
Shape the Patties: Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
Cooking Options:
Pan-Frying: In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and heated through.
Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (350°F). Lightly brush the patties with olive oil. Place them in the air fryer basket and cook for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they're crisp and heated through.
Serve: Serve the black bean burgers in buns with your favorite toppings and condiments.
Enjoy your healthier homemade black bean burgers with the goodness of whole ingredients!!
